ideas for a sps coral

Ha, that's funny! I know that he rubbed her the wrong way from day one. He was pretty obnoxious. Glad he's outta here.

the monti is doing good still a little brown in the center of it from shipping but lots of good PE and it looks like some new growth.

He wasn't banned for being obnoxious. He was banned for posting extremely graphic pictures of mutilated dead bodies, accident and suicide victims. There is no "two sides" to that sort of behavior; it is common sense.

There are always two sides, Biff.
Behavior of that type is not as big of a deal in the UK. I thought you lived in Europe for a while? I know that you found the pics disturbing as did others, but others were not as offended. May be he didn't think before he posted as he should have. Had he been warned about this before? Do you believe he would have posted that stuff if he knew it would have pissed you off? Just some things to think about.

I have a multi-cultural background. Moreso than 99.9% of the people in this country. I didn't live in the United States until I was 16, when I moved here for the first time. Until then, I lived in South America (2 years), three different countries in Europe (7 years), the Middle East (1 year) and two different countries in Africa (6 years). I've lived in 8 countries total, including the US.

I don't believe that's considered acceptable behavior in the UK either, nor should "I'm not from around here!" be an acceptable excuse. If it was, why have the pictures of the accident that killed Princess Di never been released? Some things are more accepted over there versus here. I remember when I lived in Germany, we had TWO 24 hour porn channels! On network TV! Not even cable! 24 hours a day! Non stop porn! But not dead bodies.

Once again this is not about you! Why are you on the defensive all the time? This is not an attack against you and I'm sorry if it seemed that way or if you took it that way. Not anywhere on this site have I even stated that I disagreed with you. (Not that it would really matter if I did or not) All I asked is was he given a warning before, officially? And do you believe he acted purposefully? May be he's just guilty of poor judgment. We all have made mistakes before which we have regretted. Have you never made a mistake or been wrong? I have plenty of times! I really misjudged you. I thought you were a much more compassionate person, am I wrong?

You make a great point that it's possible, or perhaps even likely that he didn't have any harmful intent and was likely just exercising bad judgment but unfortunately for him that doesn't change the consequences for his actions. You are absolutely right that we have all made poorly judged decisions before and I am sure you would agree that we have all paid the consequences for those decisions too. Poor judgment or not, his actions were inappropriate and now he has to be accountable for his actions.

There are millions of online forums out there. He can go join another one. I really see no need to give people like that "third and fourth chances" when they had been warned via PM and in forum threads to not be rude or mean to new people that were posting legit questions. Why do you act as though this is such a great loss to the Living Reefs community? He was a member for like, two weeks.

I guarantee you, with the way he acted, he would not have lasted five posts on any of the other popular reefing sites, and he would have been lucky to get even one warning before he was banned. Considering he is only the second person I've ever banned, I'd say we're pretty lenient around here.

That said: Why is this any of your business anyways? You were not involved in any of the incidents he was warned about, nor were you involved with him posting those pictures. The "forever ban" was agreed upon not just by me, but the other moderators as well, who all agreed with my decision. You already started one thread in "Off-Topic" specifically to address his banning. Now you are discussing it in other threads as well? Get over it. The discussion regarding his banning needs to stop. If you have further concerns or issues about why he was banned, then you can send a PM to Ian. But I am sick of hearing about it from you in thread after thread. Seriously, drop it. No one else seems to have an issue with it except for you.
