Identify flat sponge looking thing.

Any clue? It almost looks like a sponge that did not quite lump up....is it the start of a sponge?

I'm pretty sure it's a sponge. Not all sponges lump up. I have the same thing on a rock in my tank so really hope it's a sponge.

Yep, it is just a sponge. Sponges can be very unique looking. I've had some that look like spaghetti.

At least your's is kinda pretty. I have ugly light grayish brown sponge that's putrid looking.

Wonton I would also add that it has been my experience that if it gets too close to a coral it can smother it out and kill it. I use tweezers to pick it off when necessary. I had some kill my Elegance coral because it grew completely over it. :shock:

Good thing I don't have corals then ;) Want to trade tanks?? That way you don't have to worry about a silly old sponge smothering your coral! :D
