Infrared light over a fuge?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried/heard of using a redder light over a refugium?
From what I understand, algae does much better under the red end of the spectrum so it makes me wonder if I could use one of those infrared reptile night bulbs over a fuge and get crazy results.

If nobody has any input I want to at least try it, just wondering if there could be anything really bad that could happen that I'm overlooking.
