Is It Good To ?

I have a 72 bow front with about 70 lbs of live rock. I notice that there is extra growth of algae on the side of the tank where the sunlight from the windows of my apartment comes in. I wanted to know is it all right to clean my rocks with a brush within my next water change? I was thinking also to get a background for the back and the side of the tank to block some of the sunlight.

Yes, that would be fine. A new and unused toothbrush works great.
