Jaubert's Method/Monaco System

Alright my system has been put on hold for various reasons, but I still have my dream.
In my research I’ve come across the Jaubert Method online yet while the few websites that speak of it seem to go into detail about a lot of things I’ve noticed that they don’t talk about water changes or system size. Would it work as part of my sump? Is it better than the Berlin System?
You can see where I’m going with this. I really want to know if it is even worth putting time into to setup or should I just go with the tried and true trickle with live rock and protein skimmer.

Not sure if you read this, but he was changing water once a month. But supplimenting to keep levels in check.

Thank you, I probably missed that in the overload of all the research I have been doing prior to my build. It seems to me that this system might be something worth building.
