Just picked up two of these NIB for $50.00 are they noisy by nature or is there a break in period? I am replacing my #4's when I do my annual major clean up two of these should be enough for a RSM 130 right?

Mine have never been noisy, sounds like yours might be going bad. Did you buy them used?
And they should be cleaned every couple of months, otherwise they can malfunction or just totally break down.

nope brand new still in box it's not that they are noisy it's just they are not wisper quiet I have them running in a small bucket befor they go into tank next month

The may be a lot quieter when under more water and behind the glass

+1 lil fish, Mine make noise when I use them to mix water in buckets. Much quieter in tank.

Thank you that's what I am thinking just hate to invest 5 hours worth of clean up to go backwards

Yeah no problems if its just a humming/buzz type noise. If you hear a clacking they may indeed be broke though.
