LED lighting for a fuge light?

I am running an inch and a half of substrate base with some LR rubble and chaeto. The lighting I have on the fuge right now is an incandescent hood light that was left over from my fresh water to saltwater build but looking to get a light that is more appropriate for growing chaeto. I currently alternate my display with my fuge light as far as to when they are on. I am always looking to do things as cheaply as possible. I was told to just run a home depot cone light but the energy consumptions and heat given off by those makes me nervous to the limited space I have under my tank. Question is: would an led light, small cheap clip on for a 5 gallon tank, be sufficient to cheap chaeto alive and growing?

+1 BJ - I just got 100W equivalent CFL bulb on sale for $1.30 - can't go wrong for that price

You could use a small LED light as well, if it's rated for 5 gallons and that's the size of your refugium it would probably work
