I would look at either metal halides or LEDs

If you're planning on putting aggressive or semi-agressive fish in your reef tank such as tangs, lunar lights, or a "night light" is a good idea to add to whatever lighting you choose to get for your tank. This will reduce the amount of nipping your fish have at each other at night, as it is rarely truly dark in a coral reef, even at night.

i think im gonna go with 2 36-48 inch marineland reef capable leds, my dad has one on his 46 bow front and loves it
