List of acronyms

    I am still fairly new to the hobby and this forum and often wonder what some of the acronyms mean. It would be helpful to have a list of them so here it goes. Please feel free to edit this list as my knowledge is quite limited!

    CUC = clean up crew
    DSB = deep sand bed
    DT = display tank
    FOWLR = fish only with live rock
    GPH = gallons per hour
    LFS = local fish store
    LR = live rock (or Living Reefs, depending on the context)
    NO2 = nitrite
    NO3 = nitrate
    RO DI = reverse osmosos, de-ionization (water purification process)
    SW = salt water

    MH-metal halide
    VHO-very high output (lights)
    SPS-small polyps stony coral
    LPS-large polyp stony coral
    BTA-bubble tip anemone

    WTF - What the .....
    This is used very frequently in the hobby, but I don't think you're looking for ones like that. :lol:
