I've always referred to that red stuff that Carol posted a pic of as "red Velvet Algae"..I could be totally wrong...It's not cyano..

Im pretty sure its a type of sponge, i have it growing on the bottom of few of my rocks in my tank. But we could be super cool and name it "red velvet sponge". make us sound more official!

It is a feather duster. I have 'em all over.

Red velvet algae and sponge are very different. You can tell the difference -- if you try to pick at and remove the red velvet algae, it's not coming off! The sponge can be picked and peeled off.
