Looking for advice: Trigger v. Sea Urchin incident?

My Reef Trigger (aka Wedge-tailed Trigger) has a broken spine in his face. The urchin is a Banded Urchin (Echinothrix calamaris)--mildly venomous. The trigger is acting fine, but a small portion of the spine is still embedded near his mouth.

I don't think Duke was trying to eat the urchin, he's normally very indifferent and just avoids it. The urchin is in his favorite hole, though, and my guess is that he tried to squeeze in with the urchin.

I'm thinking that it will come out on its own? Any advice?

I think it will work its way out on its own too. Urchin spines contain venom, so if the fish is still acting fine, he dodged a bullet!
