Well, I am up in St. Ignace right now, just about 15 minutes north of Mackinaw city, we spent the day today there, and mainly Mackinac Island. Went on a great bike trip, and horse riding trip on the island. bought some amazing fudge!

We got super lucky tonight, ordered 2 16" pizzas, and they screwed one up so they gave us a 3rd pizza for free!!!!!

We're going up at the end of August. Did you take the ferry over?

Yes we did, we took the sheplers ferry over (fastest ferry fleet here!). its really great up here, we are supposedly going to be able to see the northern lights at about 3 a.m. EST tonight.

so if you are about even with the southern end of MI or further north, if you want to, you may able to be them this morning

Yeah, those Sheplers Ferry's get you there...Hey did you see the sign for the World's Largest Clam on your way up I-75? If you did, don't stop..I can tell you for certain they don't have the World's Largest Clam.

If you've got time, before you go home, shoot across to Traverse City Area. There is a little town just North of Traverse City called Sutton's Bay. IMO, it's the prettiest place in Michigan that's not a State or National Park.

    1. Taquamenon Falls, you're going to drive right by it. It's impressive.
    2. Pictured Rocks- The first words out of your mouth will be "Oh My God".

haha right on! My mom was just up there on Sunday, and I have been meaning to take the GF to the Island shes never been.

    +1 PRC for the UP.
There's a bunch of neat stuff you can see up there, you just have to know where at... otherwise there's nothing lol. You'll see what I mean :)

If you go across the northern side of the UP, I know a place where you can go cliff jumping, that is if you have the cahones for that type of thing :nanananan

Did you know there are more pubs than permeant residents on that island?

Anyways, love the place. We go every time we are in that neck of the woods visiting family.

Yeah, there are very few actual residents that live there all year. Mostly rich vacation homes, it's more of a historical resort, no cars, just bikes, horse drawn buggies, etc. and lots of walking.

Biffer, when little_ fish said "neck of the woods" she wasn't kidding. This place is FULL of woods and water...Slm, glad you liked the fudge, in fact tourists are called Fudgees. You passed me by doing 75 mph. I'm 50 miles south of the Big Mac (thats the five mile long bridge linking the U.P. with the rest of Michigan, Biff).

Oh thats cool. We actually drove over the bridge and it was pretty amazing. we were going to drive on the grated inside lane but it made to much noise and my mom was complaining so we had to drive the outside lane

Years ago, when they still made Yugo cars. A woman was driving across the bridge in a Yugo and got blown over the side by the wind.
