If you don't want to read it all here's the basics. Picked up a 100 gal 75 gal 80 to 90 LB rock skimmer and pumps for 140.00

I was scrolling through the craigslist adds for tanks because I have been wanting to upgrade so that someday I could keep a yellow or hippo tank. I was searching and searching and ran across an add. a 100 gal tank, half the rock in it which comes to about 40LB, sump, skimmer, return pump, and power heads for 200.00, or 300.00 with a 36" PC light.

Anyway I call him up and apparently he has two tanks (the other a 75) both 200 or 300 with light. I say I'm interested in either as I want to go bigger, and we both start talking about our reefs. He says he would be will to take coral as trade also. I gave him and list and he wanted a large kenya tree, colony of anthilia, huge frogspawn, and a ric.

I said no problem I'll bring them. He said Hows 100 plus the coral sound. I thought wow I already thought I was getting a killer deal and he goes down alot with out me even trying. So I drive to his house give him the coral and we get to draining the tank and loading and he says you can go ahead and take all the rock. (I'm about in hog heaven now)LOL

I get everything loaded and he looks at me and says "well I only need 30.00 more for a light I have been looking at, do you want the 75 too for 40.00 more. I say wow that's a great deal but I'll have to talk to the wife. Needless to say I drove home with a 100 gal 75 gal and stand 80 to 90 LB live base rock, pumps skimmer mag7 for return and heaters, for 140.00. I got it all that cheap with out even trying.

Sorry for the long story I'm just siked. Now to get them going and sell my 40.

Here's a pick. They need cleaned, but the 100 is in really good shape from what I seen when it was set up. I'll have to build stands for both. The 75 came with a stand but it's a steel childs view stand and is about a foot and a half tall.

Also got a overflow, but I don't use them so I sold it for 20.00 to get rid of it.

The dimentions are what I liked about the 100. 6 feet long 18 wide and 13 tall. I woulda liked alittle taller, but for the price I'm not complaining.LOL

ltljoker; I felt I should of had a gun.LOL I plan to just do my two clowns one chromis and either a yellow tang or hippo tang. Don't need any rock for the 100 he gave me 80 to 90 LB which filled it quite nicely.

Yote; The fun will take a while on it.LOL Since I'm graduating in 11 more days I'm going to wait to find a J.O.B. before I put any money into it. I might build the stand now though.

Smitty; have you tried other areas? I did drive for it. It was a little over an hour drive, but IMO well worth it. I guess alot depends on if you like driving. My wife and I drive every where. Between the two of us we put 75K a year on our two cars.LOL So a drive is fun for us.

Wontonflip; I have found good deals before. It can be a great site for some things. I even put adds on it to trade coral and have found a few people local to trade with. I found a couple people just starting and gave them bunch of easier frags to start with to get them going.

Does anyone know anything about that skimmer? I haven't heard anything about them before. When I bought the tank there was only 3 hermits in it and the collection had some gunk so it was doing it's job, but I will it do a good job if the tank is stocked?

So far, I've only gotten 1 bad deal, but it wasn't a huge blow...I purchased a supposed 100g for $25...but first of all, it was more like 45g, and it had a small leak. I posted it back up in the free section, made sure people knew it had a leak...someone snatched it up for use for their iguana, so they didn't care that it had a leak. Caveat emptor :)

The collection cup says "pro clear aquatics". Is that the same skimmer you're talking about? It's ran by a rio something or another.LOL The same rio the CSS 65 uses.

BigH Yeah I just set it up, but I don't have room for all of them.LOL I might use the 75 as a sump or something then I could keep the 40. I don't really want to get rid of it, because it's my favorite tank I have set up.

I'll use all the rock. The tank is long and this fills it just about right.

I think Pro-Clear and SeaLife Systems are actually the same company with 2 different lines.Basically the same products, just different brand names.
