OK so I know that mantis shrimp are generally thought of as a pest, and I know some people keep one in a tank by itself... I also saw a documentary on the Pistol Shrimp...uh amazing! So are both these shrimp species only type tanks or what? New to the whole saltwater show as I have only ever done freshwater, and will a pistol shrimp really "shoot" live feeder shrimp? Any help here would be great! Thanks.

I've never heard of pistol shrimps "shooting" prey. They get their name from the clicking sounds they make.

I would have to say the mantis shrimp. Most likely the mantis would spot the pistol before it was spotted and then strike from behind before the pistol could react. Stomatopods seem far more intelligent than shrimp. They also have vastly better vision.
