Mantis shrimp

Mantis shrimp in captiveity

Ok took out some rocks today and put them into the sink and started to pour RO/DI water over them either he held out or I got him on the second rock. Tank back together. Him in his own little holding tank.awaiting his fait. He is in a small two gallon acrilic aquarium with a small rock and some sand. Ok here are the pictures.

That looks a lot like a Peacock Mantis,though the color is off.
Sale that dude.He sould be good for 30 or 40 bucks.:D
But I could have told you an easier way to catch him than taking all the rock out.
The next mantis you get,place your net in the tank with a silver side in it.Do that daily until the mantis get comfortable eating out of the net.Then tie a string or fishing line to the handle of the net once the shrimp gets comfortable,then its as simple as sitting back and setting the hook.:D
 
thanks little late. I will have to remember that and try it next time I get one. Thanks. I was determined to get him out today as he was killing other live stock. He killed my sailfin blemmy. What are the chances of having another one in there. This tank is not new. I got it from another person. I still have some clicking sound or could it be the MJ1200 on a natureal wave timer.

Just turn the wave maker off and see if the clicking stops.
If it dont,well,you know what you have to do.:D
 
I wouldn't go far.:D
With a little time and patience,anything can be caught without having to rip the tank apart.
