Matty 150g Cube Dream Tank

well, i had a couple sps colony die for no reason which sucks cause i've got a really nice pack coming for a semi-(90min)close reefer. all my parameters are sable. only thing i can say are starfish eating the colony. i'll get some pics once i upload to PB. BUT

good news is i scored a great deal on a new tank. oceanic 57g rimless. came with starboard bottom and an overflow kit. I'm thinking I'm going to try my hand at breeding banngai cardinals and have it a lil frag tank. still thinking about it. it wont be until we buy our house. hopefully end of march is closing date. heres so dirty picks before i cleaned up cause it went in storage :( so the wife didnt see it.

Well it's been awhile since I've updated so here we go. Nothing new has really happened. I'm going thru a lil algae problem so I'm going to start doing 15g WC every 4-5 days until it's gone. To help with that I hooked up my tlf reactor with 2 cups of gfo. Of course it'll be looking nice again right in time for us to close on our house. Here's some pics.

move the tank two weeks ago and after leaving the rocks in drums with no water circulating for a week after being sick from exhausted from moving and painting i made some fresh saltwater to dip the rock and soak it a lil in fresh saltwater placed it all back in the tank and basically the next day everything was R.I.P. i think it caused a ammonia spike from the rocks cause it had the whole house smelling like a bad river.
now i'm going to be selling the tank stand sump, ecoray 112d and the live rock and hopefully buying a pair of radions and a mp10 for a 57 rimless.

Sorry for the loss; the rocks sitting in standing water will definitely do it. Got to keep it oxygenated or you will have a lot of die off; to be honest dipping it in fresh water probably didnt help and if anything, made it worse by killing whatever was left over. If that was the case, it was definitely an ammonia spike.

Good thing is youre not over the hobby and want to start over; bad news is that you learned the hard way like most of us have through trial and error.

Looking forward to the new build in the future.
