Monti cap vs. acro--the battle rages on

Check out how these 2 corals are doing territorial battle; the acro is stinging the monti, causing the bleaching where it's too close. The monti is also doing its share of the damage by shading out the acro, causing its dead spots on the lower side of it. The acro encrustment was a full circle before the monti shaded it out. Now only the top half of the plug is alive. Note also the zoas shading out the monti in the upper corner. I wonder what will happen when the green encrusting monti reaches the capricornis?
