Just finished up the wake for my cat --yes a wake. I opened my door last night and there he was laying in my front yard just dead with no signs of any injury or illness --like he just dropped in his tracks and died suddenly. . His name was Q. We started with a dinner of food and wine. We stood by his grave where neighbors had written poems and eulogized him. People told the incredible stories about his mischievous nature. We theorized on his extra-terrestrial intelligence. He lived in and slept in at least 5 different homes on a regular basis. When new dogs arrived in the neighborhood, he quickly put them in their place with a series of smacks to the head. He faced down foxes. Neighbors admitted for all the cats they ever had they never had one like Q. (No, I have never done a wake for a cat and probably never will again.) Over twenty neighbors showed up for the wake and we broke out guitars and sang (and drank) till just a little while ago.

Sorry to hear that Sen, at least he was loved! One family can love a cat to death, that little devil was blessed to have five loving homes.

Thx all. We are getting letters of condolences in the mail. The wake was really a good time. It could be a the new thing --an Irish wake for a cat.
