My first shorty plate coral, any tips?

Had 'im for a couple weeks now, seems to be doing in the frag tank about 14" below the x4 24w T5's. Do I need to feed it, or will it be ok with the supplemental oyster feast and rotifers I give the frags?

Mine loves sushi roe which has lots of good nutrition. I turn flow off and drop the eggs right on top of him.

My plate coral tests phosphates better than any off the shelf test. If he retracts and stays that way for a day or more I would suspect phosphates are rising. Give it a nice flat area on the sand.

BTW, very nice color.

I don't have a sand bed in the frag tank, unfortunately. I'm not putting it in the DT because I know my dwarf angels and Klein's butterfly will utterly destroy it.

Consider the plate moved ;)

I had to pick out something at the LFS for trade, I brought in a big wad of Seriatopora "weeds" in misc. colors and wanted to try something different from SPS.
