My frogspawn has gone all weird!

I have a pretty big frogspawn, at least the size of a softball inflated, and it's all one single head. Lately its sweepers have gone weird. It's getting long stringy ones that will stretch out a good 6-8" longer than the rest. Normally, it was always just a ball, with each sweeper being relatively the same length, but now these oddball things that go waaay out. Anyone seen this?

Yep.
Those are sweepers to combat other corals from growing too close.

yeah, but oddball long ones like that? It stayed pretty much ball shaped for a year....

Those are sweeper tentacles for stinging, like Yote said.

the long ones are stingers, the short ones are for food

aha, awesome. Thanks for the info gang......is it common for a frogspawn to get that big (6" dia) without growing more heads?

More common than a lot of people think.

I had one in the past that would do that. I started target feeding it and they didn't seem to try to sting as much.
