Well I know that no two snail shells are the same -- that's probably correct. But that's not my question. My question is why their shells are growing differently in my tank than they did wherever they were before I bought them. You can see a distinct line in the shell, marking the time when I put them in my tank.

probably the same thing that happens when I visit a good buffet. My pants seem to create a new red line in my tummy from the pressure of the belly on the belt, and it looks similar in your conch. It is just getting too much algae to eat and it needs to unbutton his pants a bit.
