@yote do you still have your Bearded Dragon? I've been thinking about getting one because they have always appealed and I've heard they are good pets, what are your thoughts after having Harry for a while?

You should get a Beardy Becky. They are awesome pets.
As long as they have the basic requirements, ie: food, water, and shelter, they are great.
Harry actually doesn't use his cage anymore except for eatting his veggies and the bugs that the kids catch for him. He spends most of his time exploring the house. Even take him outside and let him run around. He'll come right back in as soon as he's done.

That's good to know, thanks! I don't want to rush into anything, I need to read up loads first as I've never had a reptile before. Ian (my husband) is quite keen on getting a tortoise so who knows! :)

Beardies are great pets. When you read the requirements for successfully keeping them online it makes it seem overwhelming but just like this hobby, once you get a method that works for you it's really not that much work. My only recommendation is buy crickets and worms in bulk online. I buy 1000 mealworms and crickets at a time off amazon. From your local Petco if you walked in I think last time I looked crickets were like $.11 each. Online They are a slow as $.02 each.

How have your found feeding them insects? I'm such a clutz I'm sure I'd drop them everywhere and the whole house would become their breeding ground!! :ROFLMAO:

That's been simple and easy. of course living in a rural area makes it even easier.
Harry doesn't do very good with crickets. Not sure if he just don't like them or if he's just lazy and don't want to chase them. But he loves the grubs we find in the woods along with earth worms and what we call pine roaches. He also loves the Bebui ( sp? ) roaches, which we have a colony of just for that purpose.
We just drop a couple in his cage and let him have them. Once their gone, we'll give him a couple more until he's no longer interested.
