New Salt tank owners

Reefing newb
We purchased our First 20 g tank this weekend , and it looks great so far. We used live sand 20 lbs and put 19 lbs of live rock inside. Filled it with the right salt mix and used spring water to do it. Today it looked even better, and after testings the Ph and other tests, things seemed ok. So this afternoon, we added 2 small clowns and they seem very happy. :mrgreen:
We want to start slow but really cant wait to add more living things soon. But weve read we must stay cool and go slow.
Any good tips for begineers let us know.
We'll post a pic of our new tank with rocks and fish soon.

Welcome to the forums.

In the future you might be better off going with RO/DI water. I think spring water can have some heavy metals that can contribute to algea problems.

Thanks for the info, but what does that mean RO/Di water?

RO = Reverse Osmosis
DI = DeIonized

Usualy RO will strip out about 98% of everything in water then they run that through DI media to remove the rest.

you can buy a decent RO/DI filter system on Ebay for 99$.

Or you can buy pre-made RODI saltwater at your LFS. It's a little bit more expensive than making your own, but a lot more convenient if you need water in a pinch and don't want to wait around for two days for the salt to mix.
