New Tank Advice

Ok....So I'm upgrading from my 12g JBJ Nano to a 37g corner pentagon. I'm going to add an overflow in the back corner and drill the bottom for either a Durso Standpipe, or Megaflow. Would a 1" be large enough, or should I make it larger?
Also, would a 10g be large enough for the sump\refugium?

I presume that the drain and return can be in the same approximate location and size?
