new tank cycling

hi i hav a 50 gallon tank that has already been cycled and i just started a 20 gallon tank for my eel. both r saltwater. i was thinking if i could get some of the 50 gallon water and put half on the 20 gallon tank?? would it be cycled after a day???

It's not really the water that has the live bacteria in/on it...it'll be the rocks and sand. Using some of the water from your 50 gal will help, but not enough to skip the cycle completely, especially in a day. Unless you use an adequate amount of live rock with that cured water too.
