I have a friend that is currently doing this in his 125G tank. He has been doing it for about a month now, and I seems to be working great! He says that is works in place of active charcoal. I'm a believer!!!

So do you literally just dump vodka into the sump? A measured amount of course. Im also assuming you want to use something with a high alcohol content like Everclear or Absolut? Fill me in on this, I have a lot of vodka.

I personally think this is a terrible method to deal with nitrates, but if you do decided to do this, make sure you research, research, research. This method is probably one of the easiest methods of crashing a tank I know of.

I will have to ask my friend what he does for his vodka treatments. I don't think he uses that good of quality vodka, but he is careful about the proof!! I'll get back to ya on that one. In the mean time here is a good article for you to read on the subject.
