New to the hobby and looking for advice

Hello everyone! I just decided instead of reading everybody elses posts, to get some advice of my own. I just started to cycle my tank and am looking for any helpful handy hints in regards to helping the process and what i should be looking out for/what to expect. Any and all advice is welcome!

Hello and welcome! Your cycle can take anywhere from a week to a month or two. First you will see ammonia rise, then nitrites will rise. Then both of those will start to drop. In the meantime, nitrates will rise.

When ammonia and nitrites are both back at zero, your cycle is considered complete. You will probably have to do some water changes to get your nitrates at an acceptable level at that point. Once you've done so, you are ready to add your first animal/s.
