I am just starting to see what looks like cottenballs growing on my rocks. i have no idea what they are:frustrat: does anyone know what they are and if they are good or bad :death: for my tank. Thanks ltl joker

Sounds like pineapple sponges. Is this them?

If that's them then they're harmless and will help clean your tank. the quantity of those sponges in tanks seem to lower over time.

You would have to take a picture if those cotton ball things because it sounds like pineapple sponges but i am not 100% sure!!

the sponges filter the water in your tank so thay are realy good for the water

Aka q-tip sponge and scypha sponge. They are really common and are reef-safe, don't worry about them.
