Hello all! I have been in freshwater forever!!! We are getting 110 gallon tank on Saturday to become our new Saltwater Tank!!! I'm not sure about reef yet - :/ I sorta feel overwhelmed!! I have even read Saltwater Fish for Dummies :)

My question is - What's the best substrate? I keep finding so much different information on the internet - but would rather here from the voice of experience!

Any other advice on anything else would be greatly appreciated!

**We know that we are planning on clowns, a yellow tang, and pajama cardinals - husband would like some sort of puffer - however at this point - we are a LONG way from that. Maybe they will be part of the kids Christmas gifts!!**

Hello and welcome!

Sand is your best bet. Aragonite to be specific.

Whatever you do, please please do not cycle your tank with a live fish. Get yourself some live rock and drop an (uncooked and unseasoned) table shrimp in the tank.

You're also going to want your own water tests to monitor the cycle.
