No algae good or bad?

I have no to little algae in my tank. I had diatoms for about 6 weeks but that cleared up and the algae i had is gone now as well. my starfish is getting smaller and smaller I try to feed him frozen food but it just floats away i tried putting him on a algae wafer and he just moved off it. Don't know know what else I can try to get him to eat.

But for algae not that I want a outbreak should i increase my light a little I have a Kessle 350 on a 29 BC?

What kind of starfish do you have? You can try some pellets. My brittle and my serpent will take pellets from between my fingers. I personally wouldn't try to do anything to make algae grow.

I agree with Nick, you don't want algae growing in your tank. What about your tank water parameters? Maybe there is something there that's bothering your starfish and that's why it's not eating. And also, what kind of starfish are we talking about?
