What you should try to do once they grow out is graft them together. Once they are big enough to frag, break a piece of each off, and put the two parts up against each other (touching) so that they heal as one piece. This way you can have a two toned monti cap :)

so you are saying split them now then frag later and mix them together right?
 
Yes, this way you'll still have a mother colony going just in case they don't heal up well. Google coral grafting to get a idea about some wacky things people have done so far :)
