Hello,

We started a 40 gallon corner tank a few weeks ago. 40 lbs of rock from Marco Rocks which is where the sand came from also. and about three pounds of live rock. We are in the process of cycling so we have started to see some changes.

Tonight we noticed what I can best describe as pine needles coming out from under our larger piece of LR, there is also one laying in the sand in the middle of the tank.. They dont appear to be moving, some are stack on top of one another.

I tried a search but as I said I'm not good at describing these things. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry camera on my phone isnt the best. I put a couple more pictures up but the arent the best either. They are along the right side of the rock. And then another picture of one that popped up in the middle of the tank last night. They dont appear to be moving, they just keep showing up. Water currently has ammonia of 1. No other changes we just started seeing them.

Very hard to see, but I am willing to bet that they are the tubes that some worms form around themselves using the sand.

If you go and touch it, it should crumble apart and look just like the sand that you have. These worms eat up left over food and fish :pooh:. So no need to worry about them.

If you can get a clearer picture, It would be easier for us to see and make a positive ID, Tanks can be a pain to take pics of. Lots of small critters the blaring lights, and lots of movement. So just get the best pic you can and we will work with you.

Sam, You might as well have posted a pic of the lochness monster...I would've had a better chance figuring out what it was.:D
