    Ive been wanting to make this thread for a long time, not sure why i haven't but today's chat with BJ was the deciding factor :Cheers:

    As a kid ive always been fascinated with Large cities and thought it would be fun to see who wins as the best city of these 5. Vote for the city you think is best and list your "pros and cons" for the ones you know about. Debate why a city is better than the other from things to do to best food to cultural diversity to laws and regulations to safety & crime, etc...any category...

    The only rules is that you can only discuss the mention cities.

    :Cheers::Cheers:

    NYC vs Houston is all I can help with.

    Houston fails big time compared to NYC in pretty much every way.
    But the economy is pretty good in Houston with uber low cost of living. If you like guns and pickup trucks, you'll fit right in. The food is on par with NYC too, just less of it obviously. Downtown Houston is about the size of SOHO in NYC. That might not be totally accurate, but Houston is tiny in comparison. No subways or trains. You absolutely need a car because everything is so spread out. The crime is much worse here too. If you are interested in a large city, Houston ain't it. Oh and the good thing about Houston proper is most people probably arent even from here. Out in the burbs its a bunch of rednecks with their heads up their asses. I mean think about it... George W is from here!

    Although I do have to say.... the woman here are fiiiiiiiine. :mrgreen:

    I've never lived in any of those places! Phoenix is as close as I get, and I don't like it that much.

    I've only ever been to NYC off that list, andI LOVE it there. But if you told me to pick one off the list right now...I'd be headed to LA.

    I've only been to the airport in Chicago but garbage piled up in NYC? Never seen that. :12:
    NYC is actually very clean, especially for the last 10 years or so since Guilliani cleaned the place up. You can practically eat off the floor in Grand Central Station now and actually SEE the gorgeous constellations on the ceiling where they were just covered in soot before.

    Boston is one of my other favorite cities. It's like a smaller, quainter NYC. That's a city I would live in. As much as I love NYC, I don't think I could live there for long.

    We were in NYC about 5 or 6 years ago, they would pile the garbage on the street corner for the garbage truck to come buy and pick it up. The garbage was piled atleast 5 foot high!!!!

    My sister has lived in NYC for years. She says the same thing. The trucks don't come daily, so the bags of garbage pile up higher than your head. She says it's even worse when it snows or rains -- then the trucks don't come at all, and several days worth of trash piles up. She has sent me pictures!

    Trash pickup in houston is once a week and I don't get heavy trash picked up but for once every other month! If i have anything that can't fit in the trash can, it has to just sit in my backyard or I have to personally bring it somewhere. :grumble:

    Well yes, for most cities this works -- my garbage pick up is only once a week too. But in NYC they don't have garbage dumpsters for every residence and business, so at the end of the day, they leave their trash on the street.
