ok i got macro algae...now what?

    i got a nice size chunk of macro algae from my lfs. i put it in my fuge and it seems to be doing fine. its been a couple of days and i havent tested my water to see if it has helped my levels at all yet.
    is there anything i can do to help my macro algae help me?
    is it gonna grow bigger?
    what should i do if it gets too big?

    It will grow bigger, and when it gets too big, trim it back. It may take a few weeks for you to see it reducing your nitrates. And as long as it has good light and flow, it will have everything it needs.

    Do you know what type of macro algae you have?

    im not too sure what type it is...ill post a pic tomorrow...
    the light i have is the compact flourescent that comes in the 5gal deco kit.

    once it gets too big and i trim it back can i roll up the trimmings in a ball and give it to my buddy to use in his aquarium?
