It was a sad night tonight at the Hill house. I had to put down my friend and companion Shelby. Shelby was a Bloodhound that I rescued from the pound five years ago, and had had ever since. She died from ingesting a string which got stuck in her intestines, which caused them to bind together and perforate. Even with surgery, she probably would have died from the toxins that leeched into her system. She was so full of life and joy just yesterday, and today she is gone forever. Why does life take the things we love the most? I'll miss her every single day. I can only tell yself that I made the right choice. Its gonna be hard not seeing her everyday when i walk in the door from work or when she would wake me up to a wet kiss. RIP old friend and thanks for everything your brought into my life.

Very sorry to hear it. Like CC said they really do become part of the family and it's hard loosing them. At least you gave her 5 more good years, where as she might not of had any had you not adopted her.

Awww man, so sorry to hear news like this! :(

At least you know that you gave her 5 INCREDIBLE years that she wouldn't have had if you didn't come along and open your heart and home to her.

So sad to hear about your dog. It is always so hard to lose a friend, and them being animals doesn't make it any easier. You did the best that you could for Shelby and she knows that. She knows that you love her and you had to make a tough choice in the end, but it was the right choice.

Sorry for your loss bigH. I know how hard it is to have to let go of someone we love. I have had to put down one of my dogs after she got to old to do even the basic things. R.I.P. SHELBY

Sorry to hear, bigh...I know my dogs get to crayons and pieces of plastic and I always worry if it will get stuck in their intestines. It's hard to keep everything out of their reach. You just hope if they ingest something that it will pass through. I guess that string was just really stuck in there...nothing much you could've done. Looks like your cat will miss her, as will you all.

    Hate to hear about Shelby.
Hope she's got a HUGE shady front porch to lay on up yonder.

He does its wierd how animals can tell when something isn't right. He been acting kind of strange. Luckily my sister has a puppy and brought him over so I could play with him. I never thought this process would be this hard.
