Earlier this month, the 8 year old daughter of my mother-in-law's coworker suffered from an arteriovenous malformation, or AVM. It is a malformation of the connections of the veins and arteries in the brain that happens during development. Most people who have it dont know until it there are complications. She has had two brain surgeries and is currently in the hospital.

OMG! Thank you so much for posting this! I am mailing a donation tomorrow! Is she still functioning "normally" or is she experiencing brain damage? How sad is that!

 

My prayers are with her and the family.That is what I was diagnose with years ago AVM.Not in the brain but on my spinal cord.

 

she is actually doing good. As far as I know, she is just having some motor skills problems. Not able to talk properly, or move her right side. She also has a feeding tube since she cant chew. They were able to remove the tube that was relieving preasure on her brain yesterday. I dont know 100% of the details since I am getting it all 2nd hand from my inlaws, but I know that a psychologist is going to be seeing her because they are worried about mental issues. She is cooped up in her hospital room, her freinds arent allowed to see her because they are all children, only adults are allowed to visit, and she is getting frustrated because she cant do things that she knows she can do. I want to thank everyone for sending their prayers. I will relay the info so that she knows people are there for her.

I just feel so bad for her and her family right now. I broke down in tears reading her page.

 

Im praying for her, I got her on my facebook page too now to spread the word. I pray the Lord will have mercy on children. She's a cutie and my youngest boys age.

Just wanted to update you guys. She had a couple spoonfuls of applesauce. So it seems they are trying to get her back on solid foods. Once again, thank you for all your prayers and good wishes. I had them relayed to her family.

 

Wow I just saw this. I hope she pulls through. Her and her parents. It's terrible they won't let her see any friends. If I send a card to the address would she get it?

From what I understand, they arent letting the friends see her because of an infection that she picked up somewhere along the line and they are worried about her weakened immune system.

I will get the adress of the hospital she is in when I get home from work today.
