Overflow question

I just bought a used tank that came with a Whisper bio wheel filter and the case of another Whisper filter. I was wondering if I could cut the Shell of the second filter in half, place a drain line in the bottom and use it as an overflow. Any ideas?

The thing with running one pump to take water out of the display tank and using a different one to pump it back in, is what happens if one of the pumps fails?? Disaster.

You will also have the problem of two pumps working with each other. You can never get them running at exactly the same rate so you will have issues keeping the sump and DT at the correct levels.

So whats the best way, using a siphon?

Using an overflow box or drilling the tank. Then all you need is one pump to pump it back into the tank.

@cool, thats what I was wondering. I see how my idea wont work. Yes,an overflow box would be the better route to go I think. Thanks
