pH level?

hey guys,

just wondering, my tank is about 1/2 way cycling, ammonia at 0 and nitrite starting to spike, but my pH remains at 7.8... apparently this is too low?

any ideas?

and also the green algie is starting to get REALLY bad, especially on the higher rocks closer to the lights, will it eventually go away? or am i running my lights too much?

Don't worry about ph right now, while the tank is cycling. All your levels are going to be all over the chart during this process.

7.8 is actually just borderline.I mean you dont want it to go any lower,but thats not gonna hurt anything.
Also dont worry about the PH at all until after the cycles complete.
For the algae,just cut the lights way back.That way you dont end up fighting the algae right off the bat.

what time of the day did you measure your ph?

it is lowest just before the lights come on and highest just before they go off.

oh thats a good point, i checked it in the morning, lights had only been on for an hour at the most.
