They do best in larger aquarium with plenty of area for them to roam, with secure rockwork. They are known for causing rockslides when they find a spot to hide during the day. They may eat small sessile invertebrates. Like all invertebrates it is extremely sensitive to nitrates and copper, and small amount are fatal to it.
