Pistol shrimp vs serpent star

hey guys ...so ive always heard my pistol clicking and thought nothing of it , my gf and mom told me on different occasions that the pistol grabs the star and drgs it to the back but as soon as it feels a tap on the glass the shrimp releases it and the start "runs" to the front, the star has been in the front of the tank for about 3-4 days when normally and since ive had it its been in the back.

so im guessing the pistol got a bite off the star(since 2 of its tips are gone) an its gotten a taste for the star, i dont want to loose eighter but i also dont want the star to be in a cage with a lion waiting to eat it, if i had to choose i would choose the star since the shrimp is always hidden , is their a way to take the shrimp out WITHOUT breaking down the rockwork?
