Is it soft or hard? Chiton?

It is probably soft. I don't touch with my hand it but if I put my feeding stick near it and lightly touch the end it curls up just a hair.

LOL that was awesome.

BPM used to play a dance song that had those lyrics 'I put my pants on one leg at a time after that I make gold records'. I had no idea that is where it was from.

That looks like a Sea Squirt to me. If you disturb it outside of the water, it actually squirts water at you, lol. It did that to me as I was selecting my live rock from my LFS.
