Possible emergency ?!??

Wasn't sure where to post this. ....

I have a glass theremometer. Today I was cleaning my glass and bumped the theremometer and the tip broke. A bunch of black beads fell to the sand. I got out what I could but a few are buried in the sand. What are these things and will they hurt my tank?

They are iron, and they won't hurt your tank. If you want, you can get a magnet to pull them out.

funny thing, I have been keeping fish for who knows how long. Never broke one. Didnt know it was a common problem. But good to know it is just iron in there.

+1 Biff... Not long after I cycled my tank my cheap ass thermometer broke and dumped the BB's all over my sand..Like Biff said, jstu go in and grab them with a magnet...
