Power strip placement

I have my power strip right under my HOB skimmer. DUMB. Thank goodness I was sitting by the tank, awake at 2 am back when I was restarting after prazi pro cause the darn thing overflowed. Caught it just in time. B/c of outlet placement there is no where else to put it besides in the stand.
Does anyone keep their electrical power strip INSIDE their stands or is that dumb? Can you have a powerstrip inside an enclosed area?

no you can keep it in the stand just make sure the cords loop down a little to keep water from being able to get in.. I mounted mine on the side upper corner...

Invert it upside down, and make sure that the cords plugged into it have a good drip loop. One of these days I'll get around to cleaning up the rats nest behind / next to my tank and under the stand....
