Propagating/Spreading Purple Coraline?

If I obtained some scrapings of purple Coraline from a store and placed them in my tank, would they spread to my back wall/live rock? Currently, some of my rock and tank are covered with the green, which wasn't quite the color scheme for which I was hoping. :) Plus, I'll be taking a pick and hammer to my big piece of rock, so there'll be plenty of exposed surface to colonize!

This may sound silly, but could Coraline scrapings come with some kind of hitchhiker? I've been very blessed with my luck so far, and wouldn't wanna risk the health of my critters for the sake of vanity!

Yes, an easy way to speed up coralline growth is to get scrapings from another tank. It's safe to do it.
