protein skimmer input

i was n the market for a new protein skimmer for my 55 gal.

i currently have a sea clone 100.

i was looking at the reef octopus needlewheel protein skimmer.

would it be worth the upgrade?

Absolutely. I wouldn't even classify a SeaClown as a skimmer. ;)

i have the octo 800s and i think it is a great skimmer it was about $230

I know seaclone has a bad rep but on my 16 the small seaclone did the job. No problems with the skimmer or with parameters. Now does it compare to my new octo 800s, No.

I just put the octo 800s on my 55. I have no livestock in it yet just rock and sand and it pulled out all of the crap from the sand dust. Water is crystal clear.
