purple growth in good tanks & starting in mine

Ive notice all the really nice tanks have all that purple barnacacle growth on the walls, sides and equipment in tanks. It is starting in my tank , little spots of purple on the walls & on uvsterilizer.

What is the purple stuff called ? do you let it grow where ever it wants? I notice my fish nipping at it on the walls.

That is called Coraline algea. It is good stuff. It can be a pain in the A$$ sometimes when it gets on your front glass. It is kinda hard to get off. But yeah it is good!!

Be happy that u have it. You can scrub it off the front of the tank.

its mostly on my UV sterilizer . Should I just let it grow there can it do any damage there?
