QT Ammonia

I have a fish in QT. A week ago he had ick which I treated and went away. After that had to treat him for secondary infection which went away. Now I'm back to him starting to get ick again. The last few days I've been testing ammonia and I noticed it's pretty high. Anyway I did at least 50% water change and retested. There still is ammonia. Is there anything I can use to get rid of ammonia besides water change and using prime? This is driving me nts.

They sell media that removes ammonia but I don't know how well they work. You can try some inside a media bag placed in a filter.

Anything that I can think of is going to take time to remove it. You can try a product called Biozyme, it comes in a red container. I used it to cycle my tank a while back, and I think it worked pretty well. But like I said, it's not a quick fix.

The question is, why do you have ammonia? How big is your QT tank and what kind of fish is it?
