question about rock

this may be a silly question but here goes:

i thought that i heard somewhere that live rock and other fish you put in it have :question: to be from the same area or something like that. for an example; can i put fiji live rock with indo-pacific sand and get a fish thats found in the caribbean? not sure if this is true at all, but i can't seem to find the right words to even search for it.

You can mix anything that you want, as long as there compatable. It doesnt matter what part of the ocean anything came from.

Some people say that if you pick your animals from the same location they are more likely to get along with each other well. As for sand and rock, I've never heard of that before.
