question about storing live rock in fresh water

Should I use an air stone? Or am I fine with a hob filter and a power head?

You can't store live rock in fresh water... it will become dead rock.

I don't expect it to stay alive. I want everything to die off without it just drying up

What's the point in keeping it wet? Why don't you want it to dry up if you don't want it to be alive anymore? If you don't want it to be alive, why add a powerhead and filter?

? That doesn't make sense. Why would you want it to be dead but stay wet? You can keep it in a tub of saltwater with a power head running and then it would be wet and live. If you want everything to die off just bake it in the sun. There isn't a difference between dry rock and dead rock in fresh water.

I did mine like that because I had to use prime to get rid of all the chlorine that was in the rocks and to also scrub them clean, but my rocks were already dead from the bleaching.
