Question!

Well fastrd400 got me thinking and I went home a couple nights ago and stared at the 56 gallon. Well I'm gonna tear it down for freshwater and start the move to saltwater! I figured by the time I can get it all set up that my 10 will be pretty established. So it won't hurt too much moving it all over. I was just wondering what is needed for a tank this size? I have read that a sump or refugium is not necessarily needed but recommended? I will be getting a protein skimmer and What is the purpose of an overflow? I have been reading on them all for a few months, but still kinda confused on it..any help will be great. Hopefully gonna be able to start the tear down of the freshwater in a couple days..and will be starting a new build thread..any help would be great! I want to take the time to do this the right way..

An overflow gets the water down to the sump area. The tank is going to be set up pretty much the same way as the 10 gal, just all the equipment is bigger.
